2027
ImpACT Artists is ACT’s free artistic leadership program for high school students ready to take their theatre training to the next level. From February through August 2027, students will learn directly from professional theatre artists, arts educators, and nationally recognized guest artists who bring real-world experience, creative insight, and industry expertise into the learning process. Through personalized mentorship and hands-on collaboration, students will gain an inside look at the artistry, leadership, and teamwork required to bring a theatrical production to life.

14 students will be selected through an application process that includes a recommendation and an interview or audition. Based on their interests and strengths, students will be placed in one of seven specialized tracks: director, stage manager, designer, actor, producer, music director, or choreographer. Within their chosen track, students will work alongside experienced professionals, deepen their craft, develop practical production skills, and explore the diverse career pathways available in the performing arts.

At its heart, ImpACT Artists is about more than putting on a show. It is an immersive experience in mentorship, collaboration, and artistic leadership that challenges students to think creatively, communicate effectively, solve problems, navigate challenges, and take responsibility for a shared vision. By working as part of a creative team, students will learn to value diverse perspectives, give and receive constructive feedback, adapt to changing circumstances, and lead with confidence. These transferable skills are essential to success in any professional environment, preparing students for future careers both within and beyond the arts.

The inaugural cohort will culminate in a fully produced mainstage production of Hadestown: Teen Edition—an ambitious, collaborative undertaking that brings together the students’ talents, training, and artistic vision. Guided by professional mentors and inspired by nationally recognized guest artists, students will leave the program with expanded artistic abilities, practical experience, meaningful professional connections, and the confidence to pursue their goals wherever their futures may lead.

In addition to programming, ImpACT Artists will receive:
